Extra Credit Question

Fabian Geyrhalter and Chris Do talked a lot about the concept of “brand.” They suggested that, while you are a student you need to represent yourself as a brand. Your brand. What do they mean by this? And do you agree or disagree with this and why? Please post your response to your WordPress blog to receive extra credit points.

I agree with the statement that you are a brand. Representing yourself as a brand means that you let people know who you are and what you do. Because you are as a brand that someone will want to use one day. I am not sure if I agree that you need to represent yourself as a brand during your time in school. I believe that during the time in school it is your opportunity to find yourself, style and goals. You are growing in school and as I designer you are finding your style of design. Therefore I believe that you cant start to represent yourself as a complete brand in school because you are not sure what your brand stands for.  I thought is to create your brand during school and then before and when you are looking for jobs you should represent yourself as a brand.

–       Target audience is people who likes it clean by using eco products. Also most likely girls because the products designs are   very girly.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The http://www.mrsmeyers.com is a website that sells cleaning products. The cleaning products are straight-forward, honest cleaners, that honor the old-fashioned values. With a strong cohesive visual design, dynamic content, and community-building functionality, the mobile site will help achieve the client’s goals of selling their products and meeting the customers needs.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience is the people who like to have a clean environment around themselves, but not with whatever product they can buy. The people who are visiting this site are looking for a cleaning product that they can’t find in the store.. These customers are looking for a “straight-forward, honest cleaners that honor my old-fashioned values”. Therefore, the audience is everyone who wants a clean surrounding but wants to use certain products with an old fashion classy feeling. The customers who are visiting the site are obviously picky and know what they want. They are also people who like the product and feel safe to buy it on the phone or tablet instead of login on their large desktop.

PERCEPTION/TONE/GUIDELINES
The current desktop sites have a clean design that goes through the whole site. http://www.mrsmeyers.com does not have a tablet or a mobile design. We want to create a tablet and mobile website that makes the audience feel as home as they do on the desktop site. The tablet and mobile will keep the elements from the desktop but now focus on only the really necessary information and elements. Because of that the screen on the different tablet changes in size, all of the information cannot in on them. The mobile website will be more straightforward which will increase the amount of product getting sold. The visual goals for the tablet/mobile is to make it cohesive with each other and the desktop. I already like the desktop design and the audience seems to feel the same. Therefore we will try to stay with that design and make it work for the smaller size tablets.

The perception of the site and the product should be: Affordable, Approachable, effecting, clean, functional, Friendly, Personable, Open, Welcoming, Modern, Savvy, Credible, Reliable, Accredited, Knowledgeable, Expert, Cutting-Edge Technological, Innovative, Hip.

COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
The primary goal of the design of mobile website is to strongly portray the http://www.mrsmeyers.com that not only provides a solid site with great functionality, professional service but also offers a great products. This goal will be achieved by presenting an aesthetically pleasing design combined with product purchase functionality and dynamic content. We will be able to measure our success by increased website traffic and the amount of products getting sold

COMPETITIVE POSITIONING
What makes http://www.mrsmeyers.com different and stand out from its competitors is the personal and family owned business feeling. The audience will notice the personal and family made company, which sets the cleaning product apart from competitors. One other thing that makes the http://www.mrsmeyers.com stand out is the designs. The design of the products and the website is very clean and nice. The packaging’s looks like something you could have out standing on the counter as a decoration product. Compared with its competitors that you put down under the sink.

The client wants the customer to find the product they need and be able to order it with out any problems. The website has to feel safe and trustful, so the audience will order products on the phone. And of course the clients want them to be satisfied with the products. The goal with the mobile website is to make it as easy to order/find product and information on the go as on the desktop. Therefore it the design and functionality needs to be simple and straightforward.

The main things to do on the mobile website is for the users are: they need to find the exact information they and they need to find the right product (Look up/find). They also want to purchase products (edit/create). Because of that the costumers wants to come to the website to find information/product and also buy it I believe that all the site need for the “main”-navigation is Products, shopping cart and maybe about.
